April 13, 2024

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Sarah Hayashi is exhibiting her MFA Thesis show Positive Disintegration at All Eyes Gallery in downtown San Bernardino from April 27th to May 18th. Sarah’s work is an exploration of the intricate relationship between the body and traumatic experiences it can harbor. Featuring a mix of ceramic and fiber sculpture, Positive Disintegration is a meditation on catharsis via sculpture, painting, and textile. An artist talk will be held at All Eyes Gallery, 395 North E Street, Suite 108, San Bernardino, CA on Thursday, May 16th at 1pm.

Sarah Hayashi is a ceramic, fiber, and mixed media artist born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. She earned her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia in 2020, receiving recognition as the Frances Niederer Scholar for her achievements in studio art. Currently finishing her M.F.A in Studio Art at California State University - San Bernardino, Sarah was awarded the Maloof Art Scholarship in 2023, and is a 2024 recipient of the SSI Graduate Research Award.

Sarah's artistic process is guided by a pursuit of embodiment through abstraction, offering space for introspection and dialogue. She crafts ceramic sculptures, textile installations, and oil paintings that speak to the enduring presence of pain and trauma, as well as the transformative power of healing and self-forgiveness.

Sarah's work has been showcased in various exhibitions across the United States and Canada, including exhibitions at All Eyes Gallery, The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art, and The Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts in Southern California; The Eleanor D. Wilson Museum in Roanoke, Virginia; and the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery and Kenderdine Art Gallery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Through her work, she seeks to foster solidarity, comfort, and community, inviting viewers to explore the depths of their own experiences and find solace in shared humanity.
